Cesar Chavez Day Poster

Design a special poster and flyer for Cesar Chavez Day events in Chico.

As one of the infamous traditions in Chico, people usually misrepresent and disrespect this particular national holiday. Corroborated with Tray Robinson, the director of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion at California State University, Chico, and supported by Walter P. Reuther Library at Wayne State University and the Cesar Chavez Foundation, the posters and flyers were produced in order to promote the events. The series of events were organized by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and were designed to inform people in Chico, especially students, about the significances of Cesar Chavez to the nation. A photograph in which Cesar Chavez was performing the speech was chosen to represent him as a strong leader who fought for the rights of workers. Using the same color theme as the United Farm Workers as well as the bold typography, the strong and rigorous aesthetics were attained. It strongly signifies the foundation that Cesar Chavez established for the workers with his life.

カリフォルニア州立大学チコ校では、セザール・チャベスの日の祝日に対して相応しくない態度をする学生が多く存在し、毎年問題となっていました。そこで数年前から大学の学生のダイバーシティ課主催でセザール・チャベス氏に対する正しい理解と、ヒスパニック系の文化を尊重することを促すイベントが催されるようになりました。その重大なイベントを宣伝するために、チコの町中に配布されるポスターとフライヤーをデザインしました。祝日の元となったセザール・チャベス氏の写真、氏と協力して人権活動に取り組んだユナイテード・ファーム・ウォーカーズ団代のカラー、そして力強いタイポグラフィを用い、荘厳なビジュアルとアメリカでの人権活動という重要な社会問題の解決に取り組み、その基礎を築いた功績を表現することをコンセプトにデザインに取り組みました。
